The Studio
SMALL BEGINNINGS: House of Jules began in 2000 as the long-term dream of owner Julie Sydenham, better known as Jules, after leaving almost a decade of teaching behind her in search of a new challenge. The idea of teaching art in a relaxed and highly creative environment with a commitment to exploring a range of media was the inspiration.
Whilst the long term plan was to build the house and studio together, the adage that ‘good things come to those that wait’ definately applied in this case. Whilst the boring (and sometimes stressful) bits were happening behind the scenes, Jules opened up her fledgling business in a storage unit in the ‘back blocks’ and made-do for a number of years before the new studio was ready to open.
Once in the ‘real’ studio, House of Jules has developed into a full-time, dedicated studio where Jules teaches many classes and also creates her own original range of art works, hand-painted ceramics and custom-painted objects.
